ORGANIZATION:

ECWA Hospital Egbe, a division of ECWA (Evangelical Churches of Western Africa), is a rural hospital located in Egbe, Kogi State, Nigeria. As a 121-bed, multi-service facility, the hospital complex is comprised of approximately 33 acres with 68 buildings, and a staff of 69. The complex includes outpatient/inpatient wards, operating theatre, maternity, laboratory, pharmacy, eye clinic, NIV/Aids clinic, nursing and midwifery schools, administration, maintenance facility, library, internet café and staff housing. A large dam and bore holes are the primary water source. Electrical supply is provided by NEPA, and supplemented by stand-alone generators.

THE HOSPITAL’S VISION IS:
As a multi-service facility, to provide emergency/intensive care services, general medical, surgical , and maternity services, eye care and diagnostic services, comprehensive HIV/AIDS prevention care and support services, TB DOTS services, nursing care, and pharmaceutical care services.
To offer a consolidated family medicine, nurse, and midwifery training center within a well maintained and clean environment with up-to-date equipment that makes ECWA Hospital Egbe a first choice hospital in the five neighboring states because of prompt and excellent services.
To be one of the first three residency programs in Nigeria with well trained and motivated staff providing patient-centered services with the commitment to glorifying God in her works.

POSITION:
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Maintenance Manager will be responsible for leading the maintenance team, developing and implementing maintenance strategies, including equipment inventory, inspection and spare parts control plan to achieve full capacity and develop efficient operating standards for equipment and machines. This position will oversee the maintenance of the hospital’s vehicles, infrastructure and facilities. This position will need to set up a maintenance plan and related schedule to support hospital and housing infrastructure, including the efficient provision of water and electrical supply, road maintenance and drainage issues. You will also need to lead and motivate the maintenance team, set up the performance evaluation system, and train team members to use good strategies to solve challenges.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise and coordinate the work of the maintenance team, checking that agreed work by staff and contractors has been completed satisfactorily; following up on any deficiency Ensure the proper functionality of equipment within the facility Maintain accurate and up to date maintenance logs Work with service consultants as required Negotiate best prices and service for maintenance Respond appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise Oversee building and equipment maintenance Oversee functioning of electrical and water supply Maintain the efficient running of hospital generators

QUALIFICATIONS:
Holds to the beliefs and faith of the Evangelical Churches of West Africa Minimum 5 years hands-on maintenance experience and at least 3 years of people management experience Well versed in general mechanics (trouble shooting and repair of engines of all types, gasoline and diesel) Excellent working knowledge of electrical generating plants and electrical wiring, installation and maintenance General construction and building repair knowledge General plumbing knowledge, background in refrigerator and small appliance/small motor repair Ability to identify priorities and take appropriate action Leadership skills with positive attitude Proven competency in overseeing the maintenance of buildings, roads and equipment in a similar setting
