Job Title: Chief Engineer

Chief Engineer position exists in our subsidiary company. DIL/Maltex based in Agbara, Ogun State. The sourcing of a candidate for the position is therefore on behalf of DIL/Maltex.

The Role:
The Chief Engineer will be based in Agbara and will report to the DIL/Maltex Factory Manager. He will ensure the timely provision of utility services to support production in the factory. In addition, he will be responsible for maintaining all packaging machines, plants, buildings and internal roads in the factory at optimal costs and in line with safety standards.
Specifically, the responsibilities of the Chief Engineer include but are not limited to:
*Ensuring the availability of plants/machinery for productive use at scheduled times.

*Ensuring daily uninterrupted utility services (electricity, cooling, steam, air, water, Co2) for all operations in the factory.

The Requirements:
* Candidate must possess a minimum of B.Sc degree, second class honours (lower dIvision) in Mechanical. Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
* Minimum of 7 years experience preferably in a FMCG environment.
* Proven experience with local and foreign contractors.
* Wide knowledge of local rules and regulations and proven experience in working with regulatory authorities.
* Experience with automation is an advantage.
* Experience in stainless steel welding standards.
* Experience with set-up of planned maintenance systems.
* Experience with store keeping and purchasing of spares.
* Not more than 45 years of age as at 1st January, 2010.
* Ability to work with Computer systems and softwares – MS Word. MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, AutoCad and the Internet.
* Good team-player. ”

The Position: CRANE ELECTRICIAN

Under the supervision of the Crane Foreman, this position maintains and repairs equipment of high complexity & difficulty in the Crane Maintenance Section. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Ensures that the maintenance, breakdown services and/or electrical/electronic repairs of container handling cranes and RTGs are maintained in a cost effective manner, with consideration given to quality work and longevity of equipment.
* Reads job order and plans work procedures.
* Carries out electrical/electronic maintenance and repair service for all crane equipment. Disassembles units and inspects equipment.
* Provides maintenance and repair services for container handling gantry cranes and RTGs.
* Ensures that emergency work is followed up by reporting to the Crane Engineer
* Carries out electrical/electronic maintenance repairs, fault finding and monitoring of equipment.
* Submits routine and critical inspection and monitoring reports, ensuring log book is accurate and up-to-date.
* Ensures work conforms to safety rules and regulation.
* Ensure tidiness and cleanliness of workshop facilities and all equipment.
* Provides daily activity report, and other written reports on equipment, as needed, with accuracy and completeness.
* Reads spare parts manuals, determine & select spare parts as required.
* Reads electrical schematic diagrams, service manuals, analyzes & investigates electrical faults.
* Informs supervisor of any workmanship issues, requests checking of work when appropriate, and seeks approval of completed work.
* Determine cause of failure of electrical/electronic components of crane equipment.
* The key impact of these incumbents will be the maintenance of operational efficiencies in the terminal to ensure availability of equipment required for the execution of day to day operational activities.

CRITICAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
* B.Eng/B.Sc/HND/Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering from recognized institution. Any additional training in both electrical/electronic fields in any heavy industries will be preferred.
* Requires at least Two to Four years of experience in crane maintenance section in any ports, mines, steel and manufacturing plants, including specific knowledge of electrical/electronic and related subjects.
* Requires specific technical knowledge in the maintenance and repair cranes
* Must be able to replace/repair/adjust major electrical/electronic parts such as PLC drive control system, communication drive system, at a high level of difficulty and complexity
* Requires an in-depth ability to interpret electrical/electronic diagram, simple engineering drawings, layouts and specifications.
* Requires a general knowledge of electrical and electronic components
* Requires general familiarity with instrumentation and communications systems, and a familiarity with control systems.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide strong HSE leadership in support of Company’s Zero Harm and OneWay vision.

The primary role of the Construction Manager is to be responsible for the organization and management of construction of Bay Atlantic project with complete control of construction budget and schedule while meeting Company objectives and goals.

Leading the management of HSE in the field.

Preparing site resource plan and selecting/mobilizing construction management team.

Plan, co-ordinate and manage the field, procurement, construction testing and commissioning of the project.

Develop site integrated planning strategies, team structure and contractor integration strategies, interfaces at site.

Participate / develop construction contracting plan , prepare construction tender packages and review bids.

Manage contractors to achieve the schedule and budget performance of all construction tasks executed within the agreed cost and time requirements.

Supporting design process phase through constructability reviews, risk analysis reviews, etc to ensure safe construction and mitigate risks.

Ensure clear agreement of project objectives during construction phase and that these are met or exceeded.

Contractor management including evaluating contractor/ sub-contractor capability, and assisting as required in the evaluation of contractor proposals, and establishment of appropriate controls with the Project Controls group.

Develop and maintain a familiarity and appreciation of capability and ongoing work load of Construction support providers / contractors.

Manage a multi disciplined team of Supervisors.

Monitor and appraise the contractor’s construction performance, and ensure that necessary corrective actions are taken in such areas as safety, quality, planning and scheduling, cost control, subcontract administration.

Ensure by leadership and guidance that contracted works meets all practical, commercial, requirements of productivity, quality and contract target completions.

REQUIREMENTS
Manage the planning of all construction scope elements of the project and develop resource & financial requirements from the project plan.
Manage the field procurement and construction activities to meet the project schedule ensuring clearly defined scope.
Manage and monitor construction performance on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance with requirements of the contract and to identify issues and opportunities early and take pre-emptive action.
Routinely monitor the key reports and development of corrective action plans.
Plan and prepare accurate project construction estimates and establish cost report for control of projects.
Monitor and control all cost aspects of the project construction scope including forecasting costs, obtaining approvals, identifying trends, taking action to avoid cost overruns and identifying opportunities.
Identify, document and communicate the client requirements.
Effectively manage multiple stakeholders.
Maintain and build healthy client / contractor relationships throughout the project and post completion.
Proactively resolve performance, scope, cost and schedule issues between DeltaAfrik and the contractor/ sub-contractor as they arise.
Set clear objectives for the Construction team and monitor the Construction Management function to ensure safe delivery of the project within cost and schedule objectives.
Ensure the right systems are in place and that these are applied on the project.
Develop a project construction schedule which allows work to be executed in a logical sequence

INDUSTRY SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience as construction manager on infrastructure projects of up to US$40-60 million in total value, especially in high rise office building and housing complex.
Proven ability in leading multidiscipline activities.
Proven understanding and application of skills in critical areas of site safety, quality management, contract administration, procurement and controls with respect to all aspects of construction.
Possess oral and written English language skills required to function effectively within a project team, and to communicate with Project Management, Contractors and Subcontractors.
A proven track record and demonstrable success in the management of HSE in major projects
