PUBLICATIONS OFFICER
ROLE:
This is a position for a bright and motivated individual, familiar with academic publications or journalism, and who wants to contribute to the work of a major, foreign policy-oriented non-governmental organisation. You will be working in close cooperation with the Director of Research and Operations and the Assistant Editor to proofread Crisis Group publications. You will also assist the Publications Manager with the formatting and distribution of publications and related logistics.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Proofreading and subediting Crisis Group reports and briefings and related materials;Assisting with the production of Crisis Group reports and briefings (layout, formatting, printing, distribution and website posting);Responding to enquiries regarding publications;Contributing to the publication of Crisis Watch, Crisis Group’s monthly bulletein;Assisting in the maintainence of Crisis Group’s contacts database, including entry of new contacts and updating existing contacts for distributions; and Providing additional support as needed to the research and publications process.
REQUIREMENTS:
Proven proofreading experience and editing skills;
Ability to write clearly and concisely in English;
An excellent eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy;
Proven interest in international affairs;
Strong IT skills, including in MS Word, Excel and Outlook;
preferably also in Adobe Creative Suite and database management (or an interest in learning);
Native-level English required;
native-level French preferred;
other languages an asset;
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects to tight deadlines;
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
University degree in a relevant field such as communications, journalism or international relations, and demonstrated interest in the issues covered by Crisis Group;
and Authorization to work in the EU.
